Our Vision and Ethos Statement

Welcome to Ripponden J&I School’s Website. I hope you find all of the information useful and that any questions you have are answered – if not please get in touch!

I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of this wonderful school; a school at the heart of the community with a dedicated, hardworking staff team, enthusiastic, bright and bubbly children and supportive families.

Our ethos, centred around our ‘Branch Out’ philosophies and strap line of ‘Challenge and Enjoyment Leading to Excellence for All’ embodies all that we do – we have high expectations of all of our children and strive to help them fulfil their maximum potential.

I believe that primary school is such a special time in our lives and I want all of our children to look back at their time here at Ripponden with great fondness and amazing memories. We deliver a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum with many opportunities to develop the whole child, not just in the academic sense, but also with sporting, musical and extra-curricular activities.

If you would like to come and visit the school, meet me and our staff and see the Ripponden Family in action, please get in touch, visits are always welcome.

Upcoming dates

School is now closed due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

We remain open to provide child care for critical workers as school-based childcare.

If you feel you need this, please email office@ripponden.calderdale.sch.uk

We have sent home learning packs home with the children and have added links for home learning on each class webpage. Keep checking back - these will be updated regularly.

Letters associated with COVID-19:

We hope that you, your family and loved ones are safe and well during these difficult times.  As you know, the government directed all schools to close on 20th March 2020 other than to provide emergency childcare.  The government guidance states: ‘We have asked parents to keep their children at home wherever possible, and for schools to remain open only for those children of workers critical to the COVID-19 response who absolutely need to attend.’ The government’s message is very clear: children should stay at home if at all possible - #StayHomeSaveLives

* We are currently able to offer emergency childcare for those eligible which is open 7.30am-6pm Monday to Friday (please bring a packed lunch, but breakfast and snacks provided)

Whilst we are committed to providing this care for vulnerable children and those of critical workers, there may be circumstances when we are unable to do so.  Should that occur, we will work with the Local Authority to ensure that alternative provision is available.  The Local Authority can be contacted on 01422 394101 or at school.effectiveness@calderdale.gov.uk.

Please note that safeguarding remains our key priority and it is important that you share any concerns or worries about children’s wellbeing with us.  Please contact me on office@ripponden.calderdale.sch.uk with any concerns.

During this difficult time, Free School Meals provision for those children eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals will be via vouchers.  Parents of those children eligible have been contacted. Further information about support available can be found on the Calderdale website at https://www.calderdale.gov.uk/v2/coronavirus/advice-and-updates where there is also the facility to request support.

We are thinking of you all and are very much looking forward to the time when we can be fully open and return to normal service.

Please stay at home, stay safe and keep watching our website for updates, advice and the ongoing support for children’s learning at home.
