Headteacher's Vision and Ethos Statement

Welcome to Ripponden J&I School's website; I hope that you find all of the information useful and that any questions you have are answered - if not, please do get in touch!

I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of Ripponden J&I School, a school at the heart of the community with a dedicated, hardworking staff team, enthusiastic, bright and bubbly children and supportive families. Our strap line "Challenge and Enjoyment Leading to Excellence for All" underpins our ethos here at Ripponden - we have high expectations for our children and strive to help them fulfil their maximum potential.

Primary school is such an exciting time in our lives and we deliver a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum with many opportunities to develop the whole child, not just in the academic sense, but also with sporting, musical and extra-curricular activities.

If you would like to come and visit the school, meet me and our staff and see our children in action, please get in touch, visits are always welcome.

During June this year, our school took part in more Woodland Trust activities to gain the gold award.  We looked at identifying our trees on the back field and we learned more about why they are essential to life. Some classes also looked at the harm of plastics on our environment. Many classes took walks into our woods and used their inspiration to complete poems, art and fact posters about our woodlands. We finished our Science Week with an KS1 assembly showing our work on trees and a tree celebration party on the back field. The children of Ripponden are certainly becoming more environmentally aware and in turn, being responsible citizens for the future. Can you find our lovely wooden plaque in the school entrance?

Ripponden J and I School have been awarded the Gold Schools Games Mark for the second year running. To achieve this award we had to meet a number of criteria. The criteria assessed our school's participation in sports competitions, our PE provision, opportunities that we provide for talented sports people, our extra curricular provision and opportunities or all our children to be sports' leaders. Please click on the Schools Games' Mark o find our more about PE and sport in our school.
