The framework for RSE & PSHE has changed and the statutory changes take force from September 2026.

The changes to the primary curriculum leans heavily into foundational safety, mental health, and healthy boundaries:

• Body Positivity & Safeguarding: Mandatory use of scientifically accurate terminology for body parts (including genitalia) to support child protection and abuse prevention.

• Online & Social Pressures: Earlier introduction to online safety, including managing the pressure to share naked images if it impacts upper Key Stage 2 pupils.

• Diverse Families: Stronger emphasis on teaching respect for all family types, explicitly including same-sex parents.

• Grief and Loss: New inclusions to help young children navigate change, loss, and bereavement.

• Everyday Safety: Added modules on real-world personal safety, including water, road, and railway safety.
